I've been an addicted bookaholic my entire life.  I presently live in Wisconsin with three cats and two dogs.  I'm retired due to a disability.   

I've always loved to travel, but that's a luxury I can no longer afford (due to my limited finances).   I now find my escape through the written word.  Books take me far away to marvelous places I can only dream about; reading transports me to other times and places --  it's quite wonderful.  :)

I read a wide variety of books, but my favorites are mysteries/thrillers, humor, and some paranormal and regular romance, books on Buddhism, animal behavior, communication and training.  I'm also a history buff, and love reading non-fiction historical books. 

Originally from Connecticut, I still consider myself a New Englander.  I've traveled and lived at one time or another in New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, Pennsylvania, Florida, West Virginia, DC and Maryland.  In 1979, I moved from Connecticut to Seattle where I lived for 12 years.  In 1993, I moved to Wisconsin.   During the 1980s, I traveled extensively in Germany, also visiting the Playa de Aro area of Spain and Amsterdam in the Netherlands. 

My hobbies, aside from the obvious of reading, and collecting more books than I have time to read in this lifetime, include historical research, playing cards and board strategy games. I collect bookmarks, and  vintage postcards (primarily from 30s, 40s and earlier) -- especially the ones with a message on them that have actually been through the mail. I write poetry, love music and films. I enjoy learning about animal behavior and have a particular interest in interspecies communication methods.

I'm a member of www.bookcrossing.com and nearly all the books I make available here will be registered through Bookcrossing.  If you order a book from me, you can expect it to have the usual Bookcrossing labels (though I'm careful not to put up books that are "over" labeled).  If you ever have a question regarding a particular book, please send me a PM and I'll respond as fast as possible. 

My home is smoke-free, but as my books are used, they may at some point in their travels have come into contact with smoke unfortunately.  I don't trust my nose and would be horrified if I sent you a book you found offenive because of an allergy to smoke where I didn't even realize it was present, so I always decline people who put a smoking restriction on the books. 

Obviously, since I have two dogs and three cats, I also turn down requests for books from people with a pet allergy restriction. 

All other restrictions are handled on a case by case basis just to be certain I can meet your expectations.
